My process of trusting God began 6 1/2 years ago. I will never forget that day. I was pushing Haley in her stroller and talking with God about whether I should go back to work and, if so, what I should do. I was talking and fretting. To most people, I am quiet. But not with God-I talk His ear off. Anyhow, I sensed I needed to stop talking and choose to listen to what God had to say. Afterall, I am asking His opinion. I told Him I would quit talking and listen to what He had to say. I was quiet about 10 minutes when I rounded a corner. On the back of a car was written Proverbs 3:5-6. Being new in my faith walk, I had no idea what Proverbs 3:5-6 was about. So, when I got home, I looked it up. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight." I didn't know if I needed to return to work, but was blown away by the answer.
Learning to trust God is an ongoing process, something God is continuing to teach me. Most recently, I heard about the book "Trusting in God" by the girlfriends in God (Sharon Jaynes, Gwen Smith and Mary Sutherland). At first I thought God was calling me to lead this study with several women I knew. As I wait to see if this is what He wants me to do, I am going to be studying this book on my own. I created this blog so that I can share what I am learning. I invite anyone who is interested to join me on this journey to trusting God. The study is easy. There are five devotions for each week, with each devotion taking only about 10 minutes to read. At the end of each week are questions for you to reflect on. It would be a good idea to keep a journal with your thoughts. The Girlfriends in God (GIG) have a scripture verse for each day for you to reflect on. They also have trust verses at the end of the book.
My hope in sharing what I am learning through this blog is that I might touch some woman's life or multiple women's lives for God's glory. I am not doing this for me, but for God. And if anyone wants to join me in studying this book along the way I would welcome it.
I'm looking forward to studying this book with you, Ann. HUGS
